Sims diary!

  • 03/01/2026 more cc

I'm just making the new year's diary page and noting that I've gotten through my MTS, ATS and Ginnie's finds backlog from like, early October? Late September? Idk, whatever, I'm up to date lol!

  • 22/01/2026 cc; St. Fleaby's

I'm still trundling along with "organising" my cc, which seems to involve hideous amounts of downloading. Having few EPs and hardly no cc does mean it loads up quickly to test and discard, though.

Somewhat, well kind of related - I do family tree stuff and found out just this week that my 3rd great grandad wasn't who I thought, and he was born (in Exeter) to a dad from Jersey. So I've been getting into Jersey, and well, maybe St Fleaby's can be a Channel Island, too? It would be nice to not feel quite so beholden to the Isles of Scilly as I have. Also, and idk if this is true or not because so far my streets are all rebuilt in like 1960 it looks like lol, but if Jersey buildings are French I can use more WA stuff without feeling like it doesn't fit. I don't know if it's that EA stuff is still higher quality than most cc or that it's easier to see flaws with things you know more about, but it seems to me it's easier to make French stuff than British in TS3. It could also be the difference between French countryside + English towns.

  • 28/03/2026 cc; nude meshes; elders

So that female nude mesh seam problem was GnatGoSplat's breast slider mesh fix which Anach told her about in 2012 and she just ignored ;_; Whatever, the elder mesh is slightly noticably worse without but I don't use slider mods any more so it doesn't really bother me.

... but the elder meshes in general do! See, I was testing these skimpy metallic swimwear for men and women, to see if they were cute and also to see if the male one used the nude mesh and hence the bulge edits I was trying out (btw, I think Robokitty's medium is like cmar's normal, but I was looking at cmar's teen & elder vs Robokitty's adult so idk. I thought it was Robokitty's missing small based on the teeny tiny previews), and anyway she just put the elder heads on the adult bodies, which I wouldn't be against if it worked properly because I hate the elder meshes!!!! I forgot they literally don't have a muscle slider wtfffffff. Honestly I hate so much about the elder stage... if I'm going to play control freak style, maybe I can just avoid it. I don't know!!

I just found this mod I made to change elder walk style to adult... 2 years ago... I mean, I didn't lose it or anything, it's still installed, but it's funny. to me.

This is demented of me fully, but I was just looking at some pics of Hidden Springs and thinking I want to change tack and make St. Fleaby's a lakeside village... I like this better because I hate how there's no low and high tide in TS3, but what about the mermaids?? I mean, they can be lakemaids, totally. I am having a dryad or several anyway. I don't know. I don't know!!!!

I can't really plan the TS3 world I want. I need TS2 subhoods! :( I could have a few islands and then a seaside mainland town... that's what I really want.

Okay, more elder stuff. According to the wiki, the elder-only features are: retire; die of old age lol; female infertility; write historical book; reminisce about youth; boast about grandkids; walk with cane. I know from other people's stuff that walk with cane is a no-go. I know from my own stuff that menopause is a no-go. Die of old age is not something you would want or need for younger people by definition... so this leaves retirement, writing historical, boast & reminisce. I've just found the ituns for boast+reminisce and I think that should be easy (though, I'm hoping it does check somewhere else that boasting does actually have a grandkid 'cause it's not here). Retirement would be cool and I have maaaybe seen it somewhere. And historical is bizarre and looks like a bug, and I'm sure I've seen it fixed and maybe already have a fix.

So the historical fix was from Ani's writing mod. I don't know if I used to play with whatever the v1 was. The v2 is cool and has a typewriter script class :D I quickly disabled all the blogging ituns and I'm going to make good use of that!

Okay, retirement. I was worried it was SP only, but no, it's in MC, and Twallan told someone so 15 years ago, and somewhere in those 15 years I'd marked his post helpful @_@ I am losing my mind full scale

Not sure if my tuning mod works for the other 2. I wasn't sure if Mortimer couldn't do it because he was childish, so I aged up Bella, but she can't seem to reminisce either. So idk.

  • 29/03/2026 careers; elders; gravestones; midlife crisis

I nearly got tricked into more stbl shit, merging and altering a bunch of career.xmls, when I remembered I DON'T WANT EMPLOYED SIMS!!!!! phew!!!!! fucking stbls. But! I do want some careers. So I need to work out what. (But the knowledge that all that organ donor, cutpurse pension shit is sitting there ready to be corrected is bothersome...)

I want a doctor :/ Idk how though.

Omg, am I actually stupid? I already had a adults boast about grandchildren mod ;_; Anach made it. Okay, well, I deleted it and put mine in. Who cares if it works, it's just two xmls. I did boast the same way Anach did it & reminisce too so like whateverrrr.

My feeling now is that I'll age sims up to elder whenever I feel like it. Maybe at 50, maybe at 90, maybe never (I guess I can roll for death according to age). I might have some sims in an intermediate level of elderliness where I'll roll for chance to become so old. haha :) But I'll always override anything that I want to. Maybe I'll do the same with adult, actually. Even with an adult lifespan, it would make sense that someone who loses their youth more quickly would become elderly more quickly, too. But I can do it separate if I want.

I found and extracted the gravestone plaques with the goal of retexturing them to ordinary grave motifs rather than horrible depictions of how the sim died lol, but I was thinking I don't like the grave shapes (the cremation plaque one is okay actually), and then I remembered I intended to use deco graves anyway, to avoid ghosts.

... actually, I think I'll tune it so we get just plaques, and I'll put those in front of the shared gravestones :) I already made things so there's only 1 ghost in the world at a time. Maybe I should lower the ghost chance too. Okay, 5% ghost chance (wait, is that per grave?), and 999998 lifetime happiness for stone, 999999 for obelisk, because I'm not sure if I can use 7 digits. I can manually alter this before killing them too, I guess. Okay, while I'm here, I'll also make ghosts a 6-daily occurence at max (not weekly because what if it's a funny day lol)

Okay, the plaques are put on pretty stretched, at least on the first two graves. I made 5 little variations from the inscription (what is the difference between inscription and engraving...) on the medium gravestone and assigned them mostly randomly to the death types I'll have in the game. yay

Playing around with the midlife crisis tuning. So far:

    • base chance 30% rather than 10%
    • no impact from career, skills, marriage, moving house
    • +20% chance from having kids young down to +10% from having them at all (vs +10% down to none)
    • unchanged chances from breakups, deaths and bad relationships
    • +50% chance from commitment issues (up from measly +10%); unchanged +10% for ambition
    • length of crisis down to 10% of adult due to my lifespan (might change this further because of making it kinda unlimited)
    • 99, 66 or 33 fulfilled wishes needed for moodlets rather than 6, 3 and 1 (this is intended to be half lifespan divided by whole-neighbourhood play multiplied by genuine difficulty increase)

The result should be something like, 80-100% for commitment issues sufferers, 40-50% for happy parents... does that feel right? Maybe that's too high. However, I feel like most people have at least some anxieties about aging, and also it's funny. I feel like nowadays people are more likely to have a crisis because they haven't decided if they should have children, or they regret starting so old, but I feel like in the times I'm going to be mostly playing in it was more about the feeling of a 2nd life once your kids flew the nest. I guess I can see how this plays and change it if everyone seems too insane :)

I just did all that and now I'm like I want them to be adults at 30. So. I guess I just need to disable it.

  • 02/04/2026 trees; St. Fleaby's

Note to self: I need to do tree texture replacements, a late autumn+early spring with lemon-yellow+brown autumn foliage and blossom summer 'foliage' that I can swap in and out twice a year. Good excuse to clean the object cache too.

I actually have somewhat of a map! I just scaled St Agnes + Gugh from OSM to what should be real scale (after which they cut me off for several days lol? ;_;), twisted it like a quarter of a turn anticlockwise so it's square and fits max map size with a 100px-ish border, and then kinda pasted the Garrison on the SW part of the main island (which is St Fleaby's btw and the attached island is Molly haha :D). I also took the rat island main quay from St Marys and added that... I like it so far! I'm still working on it, though.
